The Palettes: A general Introduction to EventMapStudio

General overview of all the functionality of the system, and where to find what.

  • The Tools Palette
    • Has an icon for each palette. Click on the icon to make the corresponding palette appear or disappear.Double click to position the corresponding palette a the top left of your screen.
    • The bottom half of the palette allows to reset all the palettes to their original positions, hide them or show them.
  • The Object Inspector
    • The Object Inspector allow the user to select, insert, delete or duplicate object, set properties, or view properties of an object.
  • The view Palette
    • The view palette allows to filter map items visibility by type. It also lets you deactivate/reactivate item rollovers, item numbers, and annotations. It also lets you select a particular item from the list of all the items.
  • The Layout/Grouping Palette
    • Lets you group, un-group, and align map items.
  • The Project Setting Palette
    • The project setting palette lets you set a border, place an overlay,  renumber all the items from top left to bottom right, set the item number size, lock the annotations(which avoids inadvertently clicking or moving them), and set the item numbers to automatically include the object name or type. It also lets you open the public map preview, and the 3D map. If you want to hide the item numbers, just set their size to zero.
  • The Event Intelligence Palette
    • The event intelligence palette lets you access various wizards and reports. At the time of writing the wizards include the Transit Locator wizard, the bicycle wizard, and the Spatial Analysis wizard.
  • The Annotation Palette
    • The annotation palette lets you draw lines or areas on the map. These annotations can also be colored made to display their size automatically. The areas can also be made to display the maximum occupancy for the area.
