How do I increase event sustainability in my city?

  • Olivier's Blog
The Event Sustainabiity Blog

The end of the sustainability check list.

Your city would like all the outdoor events that take place within its borders, whether organized by the city or by external event producers, to be sustainable. All the outdoor events should:

  • Recycle
  • Compost
  • Provide garbage cans
  • Offer water refill stations
  • Use waterless toilets
  • Offer compostable serverware
  • Be accessible by public transportation
  • Offer vegetarian and vegan food
  • Offer locally produced food
  • Provide bicycle parking
  • Have a solid-waste management plan
  • Have a food recovery plan
  • Have a public sustainability awareness plan
  • Have a sustainability single point of contact
  • Have a local community impact analysis

There is even a page on the city web site that lists all these items..... but nobody seems to include them in their event planning???????????

What about providing event producers with an event layout tool that incorporates all these concepts, and does this transparently, at the same time as the users are building their events. A system that:

  •  Makes these options available,
  •  Reminds event producers to use them by providing feedback in real time,
  • Enables them to EASILY include these options in their event planning, and
  •  Tracks their usage?

That is why we built EventMapStudio: an event layout tool with built-in sustainability.
